Scott Henderson, Retail Banking Lead, and Davis Potts, Perry Branch Manager at Planters First Bank, are second-year students at the Georgia Banking School. They attended the on-campus session in 2026. Established in 1961, the Georgia Banking School is a three-year specialized school run by the Georgia Bankers Association. The purpose of the school is to prepare bank managers to effectively and profitably serve their hometowns by developing a thorough understanding of banking practices, regulations, and management principles.

“We are proud to support Davis and Scott as they continue their journey through the Georgia Banking School,” said Eli Tinsley, CEO of Planters First Bank. “Investing in the continued education and leadership development of our team members not only strengthens our bank but also enhances the service we provide to our communities across Georgia.”

During the course of the three-year program, participants complete an annual one-week residence session at the University of Georgia in Athens as well as home study problems between sessions. The school provides a well-balanced curriculum featuring UGA faculty members, veteran bankers, and other industry experts and specialists.

“As students move into the second year of Georgia Banking School, they begin to deepen their understanding and apply what they’ve learned in more meaningful ways. This stage is critical in preparing them to take on greater responsibility and leadership roles within their organizations,” said Georgia Banking School Board Chair Peter Faser, founder and business strategy advisor, The Profitability Coach.
